Ms. Charleen Laughlin is currently the Vice Director for the Joint Staff J-6 Command, Control, Communications, and Computers / Cyber (C4 / Cyber) Directorate. Previously, she served in the Joint Staff J-6 as the Deputy to the Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) Cross-Functional Team (CFT) Chair.

Prior to joining the Joint Staff, Ms. Laughlin was Chief of Staff to the Department of Defense Chief Information Officer, the principal staff assistant and senior advisor to the Secretary of Defense responsible for Information Technology; Command, Control & Communications; cybersecurity; and positioning, navigation, and timing; and IT efficiencies.

Previous positions include: Director of Cybersecurity and Cyber Capabilities in the Office of the Principal Cyber Advisor; Deputy Chief Cybersecurity Engineer for DoD CIO supporting the Chief Information Security Officer; Cybersecurity Lead for the $4.7B Family of Advanced Beyond Line- of-Sight Terminals program; and Test & Evaluation Engineer for the Missile Defense Agency.

Ms. Laughlin has 13 years of public service, all within the DoD, and 3 years in industry. Her expertise includes cybersecurity, systems engineering, test & evaluation, and acquisition. She is Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act certified in Program Management; Science & Technology; Test & Evaluation; and Engineering. She also has her Security+ certification.

Ms. Laughlin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering (2007), a Master of Science (MS) degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (2014), and a graduate certificate in Network Security through the University of Massachusetts Lowell (2015). Ms. Laughlin is also a distinguished graduate of the National Defense University College of Information and Cyberspace where she earned a MS in Government Information Leadership (2018).
