WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., spoke with Chief of the Turkish General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar by phone today.
The two leaders discussed the current security environment in Syria and the Middle East in addition to other mutual items of interest. They additionally discussed ways to strengthen cooperation to address security concerns facing our nations.
Gen. Dunford has met with Gen. Akar multiple times during his tenure and maintains regular communication with his fellow NATO ally.
