WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. met with Finnish Chief of Defense Gen. Jarmo Lindberg today in Washington D.C. Also in attendance was the Ambassador of Finland, Kirsti Kauppi.  

During an Armed Forces full honor arrival ceremony on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in honor of the Finnish Chief of Defense, Gen. Dunford thanked Gen. Lindberg for his hard work, high level impact and cooperation.

The two senior leaders also discussed items of mutual security interest as well as ways to continue to improve military cooperation and collaboration.

In addition, Gen. Dunford presented Gen. Lindberg with the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious service and outstanding leadership.  His efforts were instrumental to strengthening the defense relationship with both the U.S. and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The U.S. and Finland continue to share a strong partnership.
