WASHINGTON — Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Dave Butler provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley spoke with Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Valery Zaluzhny today by telephone.
The military leaders discussed the current security environment in Eastern Europe, including Russia’s concerning activity in the area. The Chairman stressed the need for continued consultation amongst regional allies and partners, and reaffirmed U.S. support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Ukraine is a key partner to NATO and plays a critical role in maintaining peace and stability in Europe.
