ROME — Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Dave Butler provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley participated in a meeting today with senior military leaders from 43 nations during the African Chiefs of Defense Conference. The conference was hosted by Gen. Michael E. Langley, Commander of United States Africa Command (U.S. AFRICOM), in Rome.
The military leaders discussed shared visions for the future of multinational coordination, stronger defense institutions and enhanced partnerships in Africa in order to counter a multitude of transnational threats.
The U.S. remains committed to continued engagement and collaboration by and with its partners to ensure a secure, stable and prosperous Africa.
