Mr. Mark Schraeder is the Vice Director for the Joint Staff J-6 Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4/Cyber) Directorate, where he provides executive leadership for advancing C4/Cyber capabilities to a globally integrated Combined/Joint Force.
Mr. Schraeder is an Information Technology (IT) executive with 27 years of federal service, including proven experience in the engineering, installation, and sustainment of C4/Cyber capabilities. His leadership enhanced cyber readiness, strengthened mission assurance, and enabled information dominance.
Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Schraeder served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for United States Forces Command, the Army’s largest major command, where he exercised executive authority over all CIO functional areas, including cyber security and records management.
Mr. Schraeder served in numerous theaters of operation throughout his career. Key assignments include; Deputy Director of Operations for the 2d Theater Signal Brigade in Wiesbaden, Germany; Director of the Army Department of Defense Information Network Operations Center at Fort Huachuca, Arizona; Civilian Deputy Brigade Commander for the 160th Theater Signal Brigade in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; Deputy Director of Operations for 39th Signal Battalion, Chièvres Air Base, Belgium; Senior System Administrator and Network Controller for 21st Signal Brigade, Fort Detrick, Maryland.
Mr. Schraeder earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus and a Master of Science in Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (with distinction).
His awards and decorations include the Superior Civilian Service Award (three awards), Meritorious Civilian Service Award, Commander’s Award for Civilian Service, Achievement Medal for Civilian Service (three awards), the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (Operations INHERENT RESOLVE, FREEDOM’S SENTINEL, SPARTEN SHIELD), and the Signal Corps Regimental Bronze Order of Mercury.
