Captain Sean Neer

Captain Neer reported for duty as Secretary, Joint Staff in March 2023 and assumed the duties of Director of Management in October 2023.

Captain Neer is a native of Sandusky, Ohio.  He received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the Ohio State University and received his commission by way of Officer Candidate School, Pensacola, Florida in 2002.  He holds a Master of Business Administration from the George Washington University.  He has completed executive education at University of Virginia - Darden School of Business and Dartmouth College - Tuck School of Business.

His sea duty assignments include Disbursing Officer, USS Seattle (AOE 3); Material Officer, USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67); Supply Officer, USS Barry (DDG 52); and Supply Officer, USS Boxer (LHD 4).

Ashore, his assignments include Integrated Logistics Support Intern, Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C.; Readiness Officer, Commander, Task Force SIX THREE, Naples, Italy; Innovation Manager, Naval Supply Systems Command, Mechanicsburg, PA; Executive Assistant to the Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command, Mechanicsburg, PA; Executive Officer, Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center San Diego, CA; and Branch Chief, Pre-positioned War Reserve Materiel, Joint Staff (J4).

Captain Neer is a member of the Acquisition Professional Community and is designated as both a Naval Aviation and Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer.  He was a recipient of the 2010 Naval Surface Forces Navy and Marine Corps Leadership award and a joint recipient of the 2014 Admiral Stanley R. Arthur Award for Logistics Excellence - Logistics Team of the Year.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and service awards.
