Laura F. Dogu serves as the Foreign Policy Advisor to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine.  She is a two-time U.S. Ambassador to Honduras and Nicaragua and previously served as the Foreign Policy Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army and at the Federal Bureau of Investigations as the Deputy Director of the Hostage Recovery Fusion Cell.  Earlier, she served as Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy Mexico City.  Ambassador Dogu is a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service with the rank of Career Minister.

Other overseas assignments include Turkey, Egypt, and El Salvador.  She has also served at the Department of State in Washington D.C.  Ambassador Dogu received an M.S. from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington, D.C., and an MBA, BBA and B.A. from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.  She is the recipient of numerous honors, including two Presidential Merit Awards (2008 and 2023), the Barbara M. Watson Award for Consular Excellence (2006), and the James A. Baker III Award for Outstanding Deputy Chief of Mission (2013).  Ambassador Dogu speaks Spanish, Turkish, and Arabic and has two adult sons.
