This weekend, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine conferred with Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Senator Roger Wicker, Ranking Member Senator Jack Reed, House Armed Services Committee Chairman Representative Mike Rogers, and Ranking Member Representative Adam Smith to share perspectives on ongoing operations.
The discussion centered on counter-narcoterrorism operations in the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility; addressing the intent and legality of missions to disrupt illicit trafficking networks which threaten the security and stability of the Western Hemisphere. During the call, the Chairman reiterated his trust and confidence in the experienced commanders at every echelon and his pride in those serving in the Joint Force. The Chairman maintains a regular dialogue with Congressional leaders.
