Readout of Bilateral Engagement with the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Christopher J. Mahoney and the Chief of Defence Staff of the Norwegian Armed Forces

PENTAGON — Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Christopher J. Mahoney met with the Chief of Defence Staff of the Norwegian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ingrid Margrethe Gjerde at the Pentagon 11 December 2025.

During their engagement, the leaders discussed regional security developments in the Euro-Atlantic area, with emphasis on the Arctic region. They reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing robust military cooperation, strengthening interoperability, and supporting defense procurement initiatives. Discussions also included opportunities to bolster collaboration in the High North, enhance maritime domain awareness, and promote energy security. The United States and Norway share a steadfast defense partnership grounded in deep historical ties, shared democratic values, and a commitment to regional and global security.
