WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. met today with Malaysian Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Tan Sri Haji Zulkifli bin Jaji Zainal Abidin in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The two senior leaders discussed challenges and security concerns in the region, including combating terrorism. They also discussed continued U.S.-Malaysia military cooperation and agreed to work together to seek opportunities to expand the military-to-military relationship between the U.S. and Malaysia.
Malaysia plays an important role in combating terrorism in the Middle East and Indo-Pacific region.
