WASHINGTON--Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. hosted Philippines Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Gen. Carlito Galvez, and Chief of Staff, Joint Staff, Japan Self-Defense Forces, Adm. Katsutoshi Kawano for a meeting today in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Adm. Philip S. Davidson, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command commander, joined Dunford for the meeting.
The three senior military leaders focused their discussions on multilateral cooperation that ensures readiness to respond to any regional contingency and promotes long-term peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
They also discussed training, exercises and ways to increase interoperability among the three nations. Dunford reaffirmed the commitment of the U.S. to the shared values of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
The three leaders agreed to continue working together on mutual security issues and to seek avenues to expand the multilateral relationship.
