WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. met with United Kingdom Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Sir Nicholas Carter Jan. 15 in Brussels, Belgium.
The two leaders discussed the current security environment in Europe in addition to ongoing global counterterrorism efforts and other issues of mutual interest. They also discussed their continuing work to make NATO a more responsive, agile and credible alliance.
The United Kingdom and United States share a long history of mutual support and cooperation, which are cornerstones of the strong alliance and special relationship between the two nations.
Gen. Dunford was in Brussels to participate in the NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defense Session, held Jan. 15-16 at NATO Headquarters.
