WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. met with Secretary General of the Austrian Ministry of Defense Dr. Wolfgang Baumann and Austrian Chief of Defense Gen. Robert Brieger today in Austria.

During the meetings, the leaders discussed U.S. and Coalition operations in Syria and Afghanistan. In addition, they reviewed security concerns facing Europe and discussed ways to increase cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The U.S. and Austria enjoy a strong friendship and mutually supportive bilateral military-to-military relationship.
