WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following statement:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., will meet with Russian Chief of the General Staff Gen. Valery Gerasimov June 8 in Helsinki, Finland.
The two military leaders will discuss the deconfliction of Coalition and Russian operations in Syria, and exchange views on the state of U.S.-Russia military relations and the current international security situation in Europe and other key regions.
Earlier today in Helsinki, Gen. Dunford met with Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces Gen. Jarmo Lindberg to discuss mutual security interests. He will also meet with the President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö while in Finland.
