WASHINGTON — Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Dave Butler provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley met with United Kingdom’s Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Sir Nicholas Carter today in Washington, D.C.
Gen. and Mrs. Milley welcomed the United Kingdom’s Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Sir Nicholas Carter during an Armed Forces full honor arrival ceremony on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall. There, Gen. Milley recognized and thanked Gen. Carter for his meritorious service and leadership, which has contributed greatly to the strength of the U.S. and U.K. partnership. Gen. Milley, on behalf of the Secretary of Defense, presented Gen. Carter with the United States military’s Legion of Merit award (Degree of Commander) for his superior service and steadfast partnership.
The United Kingdom and United States share a long history of mutual support and cooperation, which are cornerstones of the strong alliance and special relationship between the two nations.
