Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley hosted a bilateral meeting at U.S. Indo-Pacific Command Headquarters, Camp Smith, Hawaii with Chairman of the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Won In Choul today.
This session featured a milestone event where the two leaders signed the Strategic Planning Directive, a bilateral document that provides guidance to the Combined Forces Command, enabling a ready force poised to defend the Korean peninsula.
The bilateral meeting strengthened communication efforts and featured discussions to further enhance the Combined Force defense posture.
The two leaders shared their assessment on the regional security situation and reaffirmed that the U.S.-Republic of Korea alliance remains the linchpin of peace, security, and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the region.
