Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii – Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley hosted a trilateral meeting at U.S. Indo-Pacific Command Headquarters, Camp Smith, Hawaii with Japan Chief of Staff, Joint Staff Gen. Koji Yamazaki and Chairman of the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Won In Choul today.
U.S. Indo-Pacific Command commander Adm. John C. Aquilino, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea commander Gen. Paul J. LaCamera, and U.S. Forces Japan commander Lt. Gen. Ricky N. Rupp also attended.
This session featured discussions on regional security challenges and the ironclad commitment of the U.S. to defend both Japan and the Republic of Korea.
The three leaders shared common understanding of the significance of enhancing regional security through close trilateral cooperation and coordination.
They agreed to strengthen multilateral collaboration and training to enhance peace, security, and stability in the region for a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
