WASHINGTON — Joint Staff Spokesperson Lt. Col. Stacy Hopwood provided the following readout:
Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Christopher W. Grady met with the Angolan Armed Forces Chief of the Joint Staff Gen. António Egídio de Sousa Santos today in the Pentagon.
The military leaders discussed the important role of security and stability in building prosperity. The Vice Chairman shared congratulatory comments on Angola’s recent celebration of 20 years of peace and reconciliation. He then stressed the U.S. commitment to its partnership with Angola and their continued military reform and institution building.
Angola remains one of our strongest and most capable partners in the region, and its military serves as a leader throughout Africa.
