WASHINGTON, D.C. — Joint Staff Spokesperson Navy Capt. Jereal Dorsey provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with Chief of the Israeli General Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi last night by phone.
The two leaders discussed ongoing security developments in the Middle East, including Israel’s operations in Gaza, and the need to de-escalate tensions across the region.
Gen. Brown reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to Israel’s security, while emphasizing the urgent need to distribute humanitarian assistance to the civilians in Gaza and work towards a diplomatic resolution to restore calm along the Israel and Lebanon border.
The United States is actively striving to mitigate tensions across the Middle East region and foster enduring security and stability, in close collaboration with international allies and partners.
