WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. DeDe S. Halfhill provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley met with King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Salman Al Khalifa and Bahrain Defense Force CINC Field Marshall Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa today in Manama, Bahrain.
The Bahrain Defense Force Minister of Defense Affairs Lt. Gen. Abdullah bin Hassan Al-Noaimi and the Bahrain Defense Force Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Theyab bin Sager Abdulla Al-Noaimi also joined the meeting.
The leaders discussed several issues of mutual concern in the Middle East. Gen. Milley thanked the King of Bahrain and Field Marshall Al Khalifa for the Kingdom of Bahrain's partnership in the International Maritime Security Construct and their gracious hospitality in hosting the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet since 1995.
The U.S. and Bahrain share a strong defense relationship as key partners committed to regional security.
