WASHINGTON, D.C. — Joint Staff Spokesperson Navy Capt. Jereal Dorsey provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with French Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Thierry Burkhard today by phone.
The leaders discussed the current security environment in Europe and the unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine. The United States and France stand firmly with Ukraine in its fight for democracy, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Gen. Brown and Gen. Burkhard also discussed the security situation in the Middle East, including maritime collaboration between France and the United States in the Red Sea to ensure the free flow of commerce in the face of continued threats in one of the world's most critical waterways.
The long-standing military alliance between the United States and France is essential to peace and stability around the world.
