WASHINGTON, D.C. — Joint Staff Spokesperson Navy Capt. Jereal Dorsey provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with Saudi Arabia Chief of General Staff Gen. Fayyad Al-Ruwaili yesterday by phone.
Gen. Brown and Gen. Al-Ruwaili discussed heightened tensions in the region, including threats to international shipping and free trade in the Red Sea by the Houthi movement, and ways to increase the strength of the bilateral relations between our two militaries. Both military leaders pledged to work together to prevent broadening of conflict within the Middle East.
The U.S. and Saudi Arabia share a longstanding partnership and are committed to peace and security in the Middle East region.
