Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine met with Chief of the Joint Command of the Peruvian Armed Forces Gen. César Augusto Briceño Valdivia on Sep. 1 during the Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defense Conference in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The leaders discussed shared security challenges, readiness, interoperability, and opportunities to strengthen U.S.–Peru military cooperation in support of regional security and stability.
