WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. met with Commander of the Estonian Defense Forces Gen. Riho Terras today at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall.

Gen. Dunford expressed appreciation for Estonia's support to NATO objectives and international operations. He reiterated the United States' commitment to its relationship with Estonia, an important NATO ally. Gen. Dunford congratulated Gen. Terras on his upcoming retirement and Estonia's 100 years of independence. The two leaders also discussed the current security environment in the Baltic region.

During the visit, Gen. Dunford hosted an Armed Forces Full Honor Arrival ceremony at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall where he presented Gen. Terras with the Legion of Merit for his outstanding leadership, personal initiative and dedicated support to the United States - Estonia military alliance. Gen. Terras’ efforts resulted in a significant expansion of cooperative operations and training between the Estonian Defense Force and the United States military, leading to improved security and stability in the European Theater.
