 Create an account

DoD military and government civilians with a Common Access Card (CAC) can self-register for a JKO account.

If you do not have a CAC but have a government or military email account (i.e., ending in .mil, .gov, nps.edu, or dodea.edu), you may obtain a login and password account.

Individuals and multinationals with no CAC or government or military email account may request a sponsored account.  In this case, the sponsor must be a US government service civilian or military member. Contractors cannot sponsor accounts.

Watch how to get a JKO account.

Step-by-step instructions for creating a JKO account.

 Organization and audience profile selections

Organization and Audience profile selections

They're not required for your profile, but you may be asked to add one. Organizations and audiences are used to assign and track training.

In your profile, use the search fields under these two categories to see if yours is listed. Not all organizations will be listed on JKO.

Hint * Be sure to look in subfolders and contact your training coordinator to verify the exact spelling of your organization in the list.

For step-by-step instructions to add or edit an organization or audience in your JKO profile, open the student user guide and click "join an organization" or "join an audience" on pg. 2.

 Reactivate an account

CAC login - log in with your CAC and your account will be reactivated automatically.

User name and password login - contact the JKO Help Desk for assistance at jkohelpdesk@jten.mil or 757- 203-5654 or DSN: 688-5654.

Accounts will automatically deactivate after 15 months of inactivity, or if an incorrect user name or password is entered three times.

 Create or change password

Click Forgot Password/Expired Token on the JKO login page.

  1. Enter the user name and email address associated with your account.
  2. A token (not a temporary password) will be emailed to the email address listed on your JKO account profile.
  3. Return to the login page and click Received a Token. Enter the required information to create or change your password.

Step-by-step instructions to create or change your password

 Login without a CAC card

If you cannot use your CAC to log in from home, you can set up your account using a username/password.

  1. First, retrieve your user name in your profile or click Forgot User Name on the JKO login page. Your user name will be sent to the email address on file in your JKO profile.
  2. Next, click Forgot Password / Expired Token on the JKO login page. A system-generated security token will be sent to your registered email address.
  3. With your user name and security token, click Received a Token to create a password.
  4.  Now, log into JKO with your user name and password.

Step-by-step instructions to create a password, allowing you to log in without a CAC card from anywhere.

 Help with security token

A token is not a password. Ensure you are not entering the token into the password field.

Where to request a token:

Click Expired Token on the JKO login page.

- The token will be emailed immediately and expires within 24 hours. If you're token has expired, request a new one

Where to enter a token:

Click Received a Token on the JKO login page and follow the instructions to create or change a password.

Token not received:

The token is sent to the registered email address in your JKO profile. For security reasons, a token can only be emailed to that verified email address.

Step-by-step instructions to create or change your password

Entering an incorrect password three times will result in your account being deactivated. Contact the JKO Help Desk for assistance at jkohelpdesk@jten.mil or 757- 203-5654 or DSN: 668-5654.

 Find a course

Log in to JKO and select the Course Catalog tab at the top of the page.

Using the search and sort fields, locate specific courses by topic or organization.

  • Course Prefix -  Narrow a search and sort using the dropdown box and select your course prefix, such as "JS."
  • Course Number - Enter the last few digits only. Do not enter the entire course number.
  • Course or Curriculum Name - Enter a topic such as "Cultural Awareness" or "Joint Planning."

Others can see a course listing, but you can't?

Access to any course in the catalog is tied to your settings and selections in your profile. Courses can be restricted to certain organizations, countries of citizenship, and even service and rank. Check your profile to ensure your settings are correct, including your organization and career information.

For step-by-step instructions to find a course or curriculum, open the student user guide and click "course catalog" on pg. 2.

 Enroll in a course

After locating a specific course or curriculum,

  1. Click Enroll in the course status column for that course or curriculum.
  2. The course will be added to your My Training tab. Select that tab and click Launch to start.

For step-by-step instructions to enroll and launch a JKO course, open the student user guide and click "enroll in a course or curriculum" on pg. 2.

Enrolling in a course requires a JKO account.

View catalog learning categories vs all courses

When you click on any learning categories under the course catalog tab, only courses that belong to that learning category will display.

Select All from the navigation breadcrumbs to exit a learning category under the course catalog.

To exit a learning category under course catalog, select All from the navigation breadcrumbs.

 Antiterrorism awareness training

Services and Combatant Commands may utilize this course on the JKO LMS for annual training and/or pre-deployment, but it is also available for family members deploying with service members, via a stand-alone non-CAC enabled training. The stand-alone version is available on the login page of the JKO LMS.

JKO account holder Level I Antiterrorism Awareness Training

If you have a CAC or JKO account - enroll in the tracked version of the course.

Non-account holder Level I Antiterrorism Awareness Training

The standalone version of this course is intended for those without a JKO account only.

  • You must complete the course on the computer in which it is started.
  • The standalone course does provide a completion certificate, which you must save or print. JKO does not maintain records for non-account holders.

 Course completion certificates

Access course completion certificate via the Certificates tab.

  • Click the certificate icon to the right of the course title to view or download a completion certificate.

If you do not see a certificate icon after completing a course:

  • refresh your session and check again, or
  • launch the course and go to the last lesson and then click "next lesson" to trigger the completion certificate generation

It is not necessary to print or send your certificate to JKO.

For step-by-step instructions on completion certificates, open the student user guide and click "certificates" on pg. 2.

 Suspicious activity message and email

To maintain the integrity of the learning process, JKO embeds controls monitoring time spent in the course, as well as ensuring the learner is not using any developer tools or other unacceptable means to progress through a course, bypass content, manipulate tests, or otherwise circumvent the normal functioning and requirements of each course. When the LMS determines that such activity has occurred, the record is flagged, and the learner receives an automated email indicating suspicious activity. The LMS automatically drops the user from the course. A user may relaunch the course but will start at the beginning of the course.

 Tabs disappeared; help navigating

If the tabs at the top of the screen are not viewable, you will instead see three stacked horizontal lines at the top right of the page. Click on that icon, and your tabs will return. Once you click it, the three stacked lines turn into an X. You can toggle that icon back and forth to show or hide the tabs.

Show or hide gadgets

 System or button unresponsive

If you see a "spinning wheel" symbol that indicates the system is updating your student record. Please be patient and let the system process your request. Do not attempt to force the system to respond faster by clicking on other buttons because you may receive an application error.

Unresponsive buttons can happen for several reasons, including cache buildup, inactivity, or compatibility with older or non-supportive browsers. When a page or content becomes unresponsive, we recommend you log out of the LMS (do not simply close your browser's window) and clear the cache and cookies of your browser. Once complete, log back into the LMS, launch the course, and select the Resume button.
