WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. met June 8 with the President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö in Helsinki, Finland.
Gen. Dunford expressed his appreciation for the continued military cooperation between Finland and the United States. He also thanked President Niinistö for Finland’s contributions to the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan and the Operation Inherent Resolve mission in Iraq. The sacrifice of Finland’s men and women in uniform who support these critical missions has resulted in greater stability and assurance of individual freedoms in the Central Asia and Middle East regions.
