WASHINGTON — Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Dave Butler provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley spoke today with Chief of Staff, Japan Joint Staff Gen. Koji Yamazaki by telephone.
Gen. Milley and Gen. Yamazaki reiterated their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific and discussed a range of issues, including shared challenges and ways to increase coordination in areas of mutual interest.
This engagement highlights the longstanding alliance between the United States and Japan, which remains the cornerstone of peace and security in the Indo-Pacific.
