WASHINGTON — Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Dave Butler provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley met with Thailand Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Chalermpol Srisawasdi today at the Pentagon.
Gen. Milley expressed his appreciation for the U.S.-Thailand alliance and stressed the need for continued cooperation between militaries. The military leaders also discussed next year’s Exercise Cobra Gold, modernization objectives and multilateral solutions to regional security.
General Chalermpol also met with other senior national security officials to discuss Indo Pacific security issues. He will also visit the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, to further longstanding Thai and U.S. engagement across U.S. service academies.
The U.S. remains committed, as a long-time friend and ally, to supporting Thailand's leading role in advancing security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.
