WASHINGTON  — Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Dave Butler provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley spoke with Latvia’s Chief of Defense Lieutenant General Leonīds Kalniņš today by telephone.

The leaders discussed a range of issues, including security environment in the Baltic region and eastern Europe.

Latvia is a key NATO ally and shares a strong partnership with the U.S. around the globe.
