WASHINGTON — Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Dave Butler provided the following readout:
Assistant to the President on National Security Affairs Jake Sullivan and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley spoke with their Ukrainian counterparts Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak and Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Gen. Valery Zaluzhny today by phone.
They discussed the unprovoked and ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine and international support for the Ukrainian armed forces. APNSA Sullivan and Gen. Milley reaffirmed the United States’ steadfast support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, including new security assistance announced by President Biden today that will provide Ukraine with new capabilities and advanced weaponry, including HIMARS with battlefield munitions, to defend their territory from Russian advances.
