STOCKHOLM — Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Dave Butler provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley met today with Sweden’s Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, Minister of Defence Peter Hultqvist and Supreme Commander Gen. Micael Bydén.
They discussed European security issues in light of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, and the strong and enduring U.S.-Sweden defense partnership. The Chairman reiterated the U.S.’ strong support for Sweden’s application for NATO membership, noting that Sweden’s accession to the Alliance will strengthen U.S. and Euro-Atlantic security.
