Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley spoke with Japan Chief of Staff, Joint Staff Gen. Koji Yamazaki today by phone to express his condolences on the tragic death of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Now, more than ever, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our Japanese friends, partners and allies as they mourn the loss of former Prime Minister Abe.
The U.S.-Japan alliance remains the cornerstone of peace, security and stability in the region, facilitating a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
