WASHINGTON — Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Dave Butler provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley spoke today with Chairman of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Seung-kyum Kim by video teleconference.
Gen. Milley congratulated Gen. Kim on assuming his new role. The two leaders shared their confidence in and commitment to strengthening combined defense posture on the peninsula and the U.S. - ROK alliance, and expressed the importance of strengthening military cooperation in the region.
The U.S. - ROK alliance remains the lynchpin of peace, security, and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the Indo-Pacific region.
