WASHINGTON, D.C., — Joint Staff Spokesperson Navy Capt. Jereal Dorsey provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with Chairman of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Kim Myung-soo yesterday by phone. This was their first call since Adm. Kim became ROK Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The two military leaders shared their assessment on the regional security situation, including DPRK’s continued destabilizing activities and recent developments between DPRK and Russia. Additionally, both leaders reviewed progress made in trilateral security cooperation and information sharing.
The leaders shared their confidence and commitment to strengthening combined defense posture on the peninsula, military cooperation in the region, and the U.S.-ROK alliance.
Gen. Brown and Adm. Kim will remain in close consultation.
The U.S.-Republic of Korea alliance remains the linchpin of peace, security, and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the region.
