WASHINGTON, D.C. — Joint Staff Spokesperson Navy Capt. Jereal Dorsey provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with Chief of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces Gen. Daniel Zmeko by phone May 16.
Gen. Brown expressed deep concern and sympathy over the attempted assassination of Prime Minister Robert Fico and offered his thoughts and prayers for the prime minister’s speedy recovery.
The leaders also discussed security matters related to Europe, reaffirming strong commitment to regional security through continued bilateral cooperation. The Slovak Republic is an important NATO ally and plays a critical role in maintaining peace and security in Europe.
