Alliance Commitment Remains Steadfast, Military Committee Chairman Says

BRUSSELS — While circumstances have changed since NATO was formed in 1949, the commitment and support to defend alliance members – “is as resolute today as it was in 1949,” the chairman of NATO’s Military Committee said in Brussels.

Marine Corps Gen. Joe Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, hosted an Armed Forces Full Honor Arrival ceremony for Estonian Gen. Riho Terras , commander of the Estonian Defense Forces, at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Nov. 13, 2018. During the ceremony, Gen. Dunford presented Gen. Terras with the Legion of Merit for his outstanding leadership, personal initiative and dedicated support to the United States - Estonia military alliance. Gen. Terras efforts resulted in a significant expansion of cooperative operations and training between the Estonian Defense Force and the United States military, leading to improved security and stability in the European Theater.

NATO Defense Chiefs Build 360-Degree Defense on Maturing Framework, Dunford Says
